NBA Standings 2012: Nuggets Trail Thunder By 2.5 Games In Northwest Division

The Denver Nuggets trail the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Northwest division lead.

The Denver Nuggets and the rest of the Northwest division are competing for second place behind the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder has opened the season at 11-2 and is currently on a six-game winning streak. Its most recent victory came on Saturday against the New York Knicks, 104-92. Carmelo Anthony did not play.

The 8-4 Nuggets currently hold second place with a half a game lead over the 7-4 Utah Jazz. The two teams will play each other on Sunday night at the Pepsi Center. This will be the second game at the Can this season. The Nuggets won the first game, 117-100, in the second game of the season. This will be the last contest until March 23 when they meet in Utah.

The 7-5 Portland Trail Blazers are a full game behind the Nuggets and have lost three straight games. They fell in overtime on Saturday, 107-105, on to the Houston Rockets. The Minnesota Timberwolves have plenty of excitement in Ricky Rubio and the strong Kevin Love, but they are stuck at the bottom of the division with a 4-8 record.
