The Denver Nuggets dominated the middle stretch of the first quarter and held a nine-point lead to start the second quarter, but the Miami Heat battled back in the second quarter to narrow its deficit to 55-53 at halftime.
Ty Lawson is playing with his foot sprain, but he leads the Nuggets with 12 points and six assists. Timofey Mozgov is the other Nugget to score in double digits with 10 points. He and Nene are tied for the team lead in rebounds with six each. The Nuggets have benefited from strong shooting, sinking 49 percent from the field.
LeBron James has led the Heat with 18 points and as part of that he made his first three-pointer of the season. Chris Bosh has added 11 points and pulled down five boards. The Heat has improved its shooting, reaching 41.7 percent at halftime.
