Danilo Gallinari scored 16 first quarter points for the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday against the New Jersey Nets and did not score in the second quarter. No worries for the Nuggets, who hung 33 second quarter points even without Gallinari contributing en route to a 68-52 halftime lead at the Pepsi Center.
Reserve guard Corey Brewer scored 17 points in the second quarter in just nine minutes. Brewer, acquired just before the start of the season from the Dallas Mavericks, went 6-for-7 from the floor, including making all three of his three-point attempts. Gallinari's 17 comes off 5-of-6 shooting. As a team, Denver shot 66.7 percent in the half on 24-of-26 shooting.
The Nets are shooting 48 percent from the floor. Anthony Morrow has a team-high 13 points, while star guard Deron Williams has 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting.
