While Wilson Chandler and J.R. Smith are headed to China for basketball season this fall, don't count on former teammate Danilo Gallinari to head west across the Pacific Ocean to join them. According to the Gazzetta dello Sport (via the Associated Press), Danilo Gallinari is going to make the trek back to Italy and play for his former team, Olimpia Milano.

The only issue remaining is an insurance deal to cover possible injuries that could arise while he plays in Italy. A team spokesperson has cautioned that the deal is not complete yet. He will reportedly have an opt-out in his contract that would allow him to return to the NBA this season should the lockout end.

Gallinari arrived in Denver as part of the Carmelo Anthony trade in February. The 23-year-old averaged 14.7 points and 5.4 rebounds in 31 minutes per game for 14 games. He will receive playing time along the win with Arron Afflalo and rookie Jordan Hamilton once the NBA starts play again.
