Report: Carmelo Anthony Would 'Take A Hard Look' At Extension If Not Traded

Might Carmelo Anthony be changing his mind about wanting to leave Denver? Following today's shootaround, Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post tweeted that Carmelo Anthony would "take a hard look" at the three-year, $65 million extension the Nuggets have on the table if the team is unable to trade him.

How serious he really is about those remarks is the biggest question. If the Nuggets continue to wait this entire thing out until the Feb. 24 trade deadline they may not find a deal worth making. One of the proposed trades involving the Nuggets, the Knicks and the Timberwolves involves the Nuggets receiving Wilson Chandler from the Knicks and Corey Brewer and a first-round pick from the Timberwolves.

That deal is not as appealing as the earlier deal the Nuggets were supposedly close to making with the New Jersey Nets and the Detroit Pistons. The Nuggets would have received two first-round picks from the Nets as well as rookie forward Derrick Favors and veteran point guard Devin Harris. Melo and Chauncey Billups would have moved to Jersey.

Additionally, Anthony says that he rumored talks between the Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers were "a new one" to him.
