Carmelo Anthony Trade Rumors: George Karl Prefers Nuggets Deal With Knicks Rather Than Nets

With the Carmelo Anthony trade rumors flying more than ever before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, it makes sense that a new angle has come about today — Nuggets coach George Karl prefers that Denver makes a deal with the New York Knicks instead of the New Jersey Nets.

This newest reason why the Nuggets should trade Carmelo to the Knicks, courtesy of Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears, seemingly is being pushed for by Karl because the coach’s contract is up at the end of this season and he believes that the Knicks are offering better pieces that can help help Denver win immediately.

According to Spears, the most recent rendition of the trade is as such:

The Knicks’ current proposal would send Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler and the Knicks’ 2014 first-round pick to Denver. The Knicks would also trade Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry’s expiring contract to the Minnesota Timberwolves, who would send Corey Brewer to the Nuggets. The Knicks would receive Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams and Renaldo Balkman.

The latest holdup, according to numerous sources, is that the Nuggets would also like to receive center Timofey Mozgov, perhaps to trade him in a package to the Nets.
