According to a report by Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears, the New York Knicks have increased their offer for the Denver Nuggets' Carmelo Anthony. In the proposed trade, the Nuggets would receive Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Eddy Curry's expiring contract and a first-round pick not yet in the Knicks' possession. 'Melo and Chauncey Billups as well as other pieces would head to New York.
The Nuggets had to choose between Gallinari and Landry Fields and decided on the latter, if this report is true. This is a step down from the Nets' offer of Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, expiring contracts and four first-round picks. However, the stumbling block for the Nets' offer is that 'Melo would need to sign an extension with the team, though no indication has been given that he would. New York, however, is 'Melo's preferred destination.
But is this really a "new" development? All we know is that Gallinari, not Fields, is supposedly the key return in this deal.
