On Thursday night, it was reported that the Denver Nuggets and the New Jersey Nets had determined the players they want to swap in a Carmelo Anthony trade. On Friday, NBA sources have told the Bergen Record the deal is complete minus Carmelo Anthony signing a three-year, $65 million extension. As long as he does that, 'Melo will be wearing a Nets uniform soon enough.
Carmelo Anthony will supposedly meet with Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov during this weekend's All-Star Break. This meeting will be in hopes of selling New Jersey and eventually Brooklyn as 'Melo's future home. But if Anthony's reported desire is to play for the New York Knicks, this meeting could just be a courtesy.
The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 24. Should this happen, which in all possibility it may not, the Nuggets would likely want this to go down early in the week. That way they would then be able to explore the market for several other players, including Nene.
