The Denver Nuggets are currently on a two-game losing streak and have only a one-game lead over the Memphis Grizzlies for the eighth spot in the Western Conference playoffs. The Grizzlies are one of the teams the Nuggets lost to during this current losing streak. That loss and Monday night's one to the Houston Rockets should come as no surprise, because the Nuggets still have problems winning on the road. In the former contest, the Nuggets didn't show up in the fourth quarter, scoring only 18 points, and in the latter one they scored 36 points in the middle two quarters (the Rockets, 69).
↵But, oddly enough, the Nuggets moved up one spot to No. 9 in the latest NBA Power Rankings. More to the point, however, is Tim Ziller's comment about the Nuggets:
↵↵↵I know we talked about the potential for the Nuggets falling out of the playoff race if they were to trade Carmelo Anthony. But to keep him and miss the playoffs? Yeesh.
↵
After these last two games, that feels like it will be a distinct possibility. There are 12 home games and 14 away games left in the season, which doesn't bode too well.
↵Just a little over a week until the Feb. 24 deadline and that may not even give any resolution to the Nuggets at that point.
