Are the Denver Nuggets close to losing out on two free agents soon? With NBA free agency underway on Friday, it appears the team is close to losing Nene to the New Jersey Nets and possibly one player they had reported interest in, Thaddeus Young. The Philadelphia 76ers are close to re-signing the restricted free agent, reports Kate Fagan.
The Nuggets had been rumored to be in strong discussions with Young earlier in the week and in a position to offer a "big contract." However, because the 76ers hold the right to counter any contract offer he would receive as a restricted free agent this could have turned into a game of chicken. The 76ers wouldn't want to match any big contract offer, but then other teams might overpay him.
As it stands now, there is nothing official yet. The Nuggets could still very well be in play for Young's services.
