Nuggets Vs. Magic Score: Ty Lawson Leads Denver To 32-23 1st Quarter Lead

The Denver Nuggets tipped off the 2011-2012 season against the Dallas Mavericks and point guard Ty Lawson dominated the first quarter. He led the Nuggets to a 32-23 lead at the end of the first quarter. On 4-for-5 shooting, Lawson scored 12 points, sinking two threes and making two free throws.

Danilo Gallinari added eight points and pulled down four boards. Andre Miller and Al Harrington were the only other Nuggets to score for the team so far, adding four and eight points, respectively. Harrington was 3-for-3 from the field, sinking two threes.

Miller replaced Arron Afflalo midway through the quarter, making it two point guards on the court. We should expect to see that often early on in the season. Rudy Fernandez played two minutes in the quarter against his old team after never having stepped on the court for them.

The Mavericks have spread out the scoring as Brendan Haywood leads the team with five points.
