NBA Season On Schedule With Negotiations Resuming Friday, According To Report

The 2011-2012 NBA season is still on schedule to begin on Dec. 9 with the start of training camp and free agency. The deal is still tentative and both the owners and the players will negotiate the further details of the collective bargaining agreement on Friday, reports ESPN's Marc Stein. Most of these remaining negotiating points are non-economic in nature, such as drug agreements and disciplinary powers. They are not expected to hamper the handshake deal that settled the major economic issues last Saturday.

As such, the players voted on Tuesday and given approval to reforming the union, one of the next steps in leading toward formal ratification of the new labor agreement by the players. Stein reports that the deal should be completed by Wednesday, when it will be submitted to both sides. Once both sides approve the deal on Dec. 8 that would lead to the start of the season on the next day, Dec. 9.

The Denver Nuggets are already reporting to team facilities in the Pepsi Center and will face the Phoenix Suns in two games for the preseason.
