NBA Free Agency 2011: Kenyon Martin Will Not Return To NBA Until March Due To Contract In China

When NBA players began to show interest in leaving the U.S. to play in China during the lockout, the Chinese Basketball Association announced that all American players would need to complete their contracts in China before returning to play in the U.S. if the lockout ended. Now that the doors have been opened and the season begins in a few weeks, former Denver Nuggets play Kenyon Martin is among those that will be forced to complete the CBA season before returning to play in the NBA.

Martin's agent, Andy Miller, confirmed this to the Denver Post on Wednesday, noting this his client will play out his full contract in China. With the end of the CBA season coming sometime in March, that means Martin won't be able to hit free agency in the NBA until then. Martin is an unrestricted free agent, and last season he averaged 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in 48 games with Denver.
