NBA Preseason Canceled, 1st Two Weeks Of Regular Season Could Be Next

With the first half of the NBA preseason canceled, NBA commissioner David Stern has canceled the remainder of the preseason. Stern announced this at the end of Tuesday's bargaining session to reach a new collective bargaining agreement. As David Aldridge reports, Stern also said that the first two weeks of the NBA regular season will be canceled on Monday if a deal is not reached. During the day's session, Stern claims the owners offered a 50-50 revenue split, but, said NBA union director Billy Hunter, that was after the owners took out $350 million out of the total revenue.

For the Denver Nuggets, this means that two preseason home games (vs. Timberwolves, Suns) and three preseason away games (at Phoenix, Oklahoma City, Minnesota) have been canceled. It is unlikely a deal will be reached by Monday since the two sides have no more meetings scheduled. That would force the cancellation of five regular season games for the Nuggets.

The Nuggets are still scheduled to open the season on Nov. 3 on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers. TNT will have the broadcast should the game be played. The fifth game is on Nov. 11 on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers. ESPN would broadcast cast it if it happens.
