Carmelo Anthony Rumor: Will The Nuggets And Nets Work Out Deal Early Next Week?

While the New York Knicks attempt to lure the Denver Nuggets into a three-team trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, centering on Carmelo Anthony and O.J. Mayo, reports now claim that the Nuggets and the New Jersey Nets could reach agreement on the proposed mega-deal for 'Melo.

Al Iannazzone of the Bergen Record reports that this trade could be finished early next week, possibly after the Nets end their current road trip on Monday. Because of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day the NBA league offices are closed over the weekend and on Monday.

The Nuggets would receive two first-round draft picks from the Nets, as well as rookie forward Derrick Favors, point guard Devin Harris, Anthony Morrow and three other players. The Nets would receive from the Nuggets Carmelo Anthony, point guard Chauncey Billups, forward Shelden Williams and Anthony Carter. The Pistons would send Richard Hamilton and DaJuan Summers to the Nets for Troy Murphy, Johan Petro and a second-round draft pick.

The Nuggets would also need to end their attempt to include All Harrington in this deal, possibly.

And, as always, Carmelo Anthony needs to agree to a three-year, $65 million extension for the trade happens. Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears reports that Anthony still needs the Nets to demonstrate the team's vision for its future.
