Tim Ziller over at SBNation.com has an NBA GM Power Rankings post up, gauging who the top executive in 2011 will be. The Miami Heat's Pat Riley takes the top spot largely as a result of creating the Big Three during the offseason: LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. The Nuggets face the Heat tonight.
↵But what about Denver Nuggets' GM Masai Ujiri? Ziller doesn't rank him in the top five yet, but he has him as the sleeper candidate. Why? Well, one probably doesn't need to think too much on that question. If Ujiri can successfully trade Carmelo Anthony, the Nuggets will have more than "[...] what Cleveland and Toronto got for LeBron and Bosh," Ziller writes. While that will be true once a trade happens, even a little is more than the almost nothing the two teams received in July.
↵However, Ziller's right that Derrick Favors, two first-round picks and salary cap space for Anthony would rocket Ujiri up in the rankings. But for how long will Ujiri dither? And when will Carmelo Anthony agree to an extension to make a trade happen?
