Steve Kyler of HOOPSWORLD reports that the Orlando Magic were indeed among the teams who discussed acquiring Carmelo Anthony from the Nuggets. Though Orlando was “aggressive” in its pursuit of the high-scoring forward, Kyler says the “[trade] talks died quickly” because the Magic also wanted Denver to include Chauncey Billups in the trade. “The Nuggets were completely not interested” in that arrangement.
The Magic may revisit trading for Anthony and Billups in the future, but it’s clear based on Kyler’s report that they want both players. If Denver is unwilling to part with both, then Orlando will likely end the discussions there.
