With his time on the podium sandwiched in between Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups, Nuggets head coach George Karl sounded like a man that has grown very tired of all of the Carmelo trade talk. Vic Lombardi was keeping us informed during the press conference:
"Melo and I chatted for 5 minutes. I don't know why he wants to leave. My thing is to keep him here. 5 years ago, kobe wanted out"
"I'm gonna call Phil and ask how he kept Kobe around. We wanna get back to that place we were two years ago. It's very realistic".
"Why so negative about the Nuggets? Uncertainty is with every team in the NBA. We've won with and without Melo in the past."
After sitting out the second half of the 2009 season while receiving treatment for cancer, Karl would have welcomed a quiet offseason to ease him back unto his head coaching role. What he got, was anything but.
