As his popularity continues to decline in Denver over his uncertain future with the Nuggets, Carmelo Anthony is also seeing his name brand drag in China. From Benjamin Hochman of the Denver Post:
↵↵↵In 08-09, Carmelo Anthony had the 10th-most popular jersey in China. But last season, when Melo started his first NBA All-Star Game and made second-team All-NBA, his jersey didn’t even crack the top-10 in China, seen in rankings released today by the league (to be fair, they only gave the top-10, so it’s very possible he could be, say, 11th).
↵
As Hochman hints there at the end, we don't have the complete context to make a serious judgment on these numbers. What was the total volume of jerseys sold over the last year? Maybe Melo's jersey sold at the same rate, but didn't rise along with everyone else on list.
↵The longer this Melodrama drags on, the longer it will take for both sides to recover.
