The Denver Nuggets lost only their third game at the Pepsi Center this season, falling to the Philadelphia 76ers, 95-89. The Nuggets held a 71-66 lead over the Sixers entering the final quarter of play, but were then outscored 29-18 over the last 12 minutes of the game. This team definitely needs Carmelo Anthony to return, but he should not be rushed into it until he feels that he is ready to play once again.
Point guard Chauncey Billups led the Nuggets with 24 points, but overall the team shot only 40 percent from the field. Nene added 13 points and nine rebounds while J.R. Smith contributed nine points and 11 rebounds. Ty Lawson had 14 points and four rebounds off the bench.
Kenyon Martin, in his third game back from knee surgery, missed all six shots he attempted but had six rebounds. Chris Andersen grabbed 11 boards (10 defensive).
For the Sixers, power forward Elton Brand led the way with 16 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks. Point guard Jrue Holiday led the team with 22 points, and Thaddeus Young contributed 20 points off the bench. T
