NBA Power Rankings, Week 1: Denver Nuggets Outside Top Five Western Conference Teams

The SB Nation NBA Power Rankings place the Denver Nuggets as the No. 6 team in the Western Conference. The Nuggets are 2-1 on the season with victories over the Utah Jazz (No. 9) and the Houston Rockets (No. 11) and a loss to the New Orleans Hornets (No. 4). A different SB Nation basketball blogger does the write-up each week, and this is what Chris Clark of Silver Screen and Roll has about the Nuggets:

Swept out of the playoffs in 2008, legit contender in '09, and back again, this year's team is even more volatile than usual with 'Melo making it clear that his preference would be to seek employment elsewhere.

The Denver Nuggets play home and away games against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday and Saturday with the Los Angeles Clippers wedged into the schedule on Friday. Watch Blake Griffin of the Clippers, because he's pretty much the only good thing going for that team right now.

Winning two of those three game would certainly set a good tone for the rest of the month.
