Peyton Manning Among Broncos Voted Team Captains

The Denver Broncos announced its team captains for the 2012 NFL season and quarterback Peyton Manning has been voted one of the team's five for this season. Offensive guard Chris Kuper, cornerback Champ Bailey, defensive end Elvis Dumervil and linebacker Wesley Woodyard (special teams) are the other captains.

Running back Willis McGahee is an interim captain until Kuper returns from his broken forearm injury, sometime later in September.

Manning is a team captain for the 11th time in his career, Bailey his sixth, Woodyard his fourth. Kuper his third and Dumervil his first.

John Elway is feeling good about his team as it enters the 2012 regular season:

"We’ve got a good group of leaders and veterans on this team, with some young guys that are willing to listen and learn," Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway said on Tuesday. "I like the way the locker room is coming along."

The regular season for the Broncos kicks off on Sunday Night Football this weekend.
