Broncos Vs. Falcons: Peyton Manning Faces 'Sound' Atlanta Defense

The Denver Broncos are just as worried about the Atlanta Falcons defense as they are the high-powered offense, a defense which will present just as big a challenge as the team faced against Steelers. That is, according to quarterback Peyton Manning.

"I think they have good players, to start with," quarterback Peyton Manningsaid. "They have a new defensive coordinator (Mike Nolan). Their head coach (Mike Smith) is a defensive guy. They're well-coached. They're sound in what they do. I think (defensive end John) Abraham gives you a lot of flexibility in what they can do in the pass rush. Their secondary is so active they can play a lot of different coverages. They're just sound overall."

The Falcons are coming off a 40-24 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, holding Jamaal Charles to just 87 yards rushing and forcing three turnovers in the game. The Chiefs scored 17 points in the first half but were shut down by the Falcons until a late touchdown late in the game when the victory was well in hand.

Receiver Brandon Stokley is also wary of the Falcons defense, especially considering the presence of new coordinator Mike Nolan.

"They've got a lot of playmakers over there," wide receiver Brandon Stokley said. "They've got a great defensive coordinator, Mike Nolan. They present a lot of problems. They show you a lot of different looks, kind of like Pittsburgh a little bit with different looks. You never know what to expect. You're playing in the Georgia Dome and it's loud so, yeah, a lot of different obstacles this week. It's going to be another tough test."

The Broncos will face the Falcons on Monday Night Football in Atlanta. They game is scheduled to kick off at 6:20 p.m. MT and will be aired by ESPN.
