Broncos Officially Re-sign Caleb Hanie, Place Ty Warren On IR

Denver Broncos defensive tackle Ty Warren was placed on the injured reserve list on Tuesday after re-tearing his triceps muscle, according to Gray Caldwell of the Broncos' team blog.

Warren, in a disappointing setback after rehabbing from the same injury that sidelined him for the entire 2011-12 season, left the field in the first half of Denver's 31-19 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. Offensive lineman C.J. Davis was also a roster casualty after being waived by the team, allowing for the the signing of Pro Bowl center Dan Koppen.

Filling the other open roster slot, according to the report, will be fifth-year quarterback Caleb Hanie. The backup was released on Saturday prior to the season-opener, but head coach John Fox referred to this move as merely "procedural."

Hanie was previously signed by the team as a free agent on March 25 and threw a touchdown and an interception, along with 246 yards on 22-of-39 passing in the preseason for the Broncos.
