Broncos Place S Jim Leonhard On PUP List

Just one day after signing him, the Denver Broncos placed safety Jim Leonhard on the active physically unable to perform list to start his career with the team, reports Mike Klis of the Denver Post. Leonhard ended the 2011 season with the New York Jets by injuring his knee in December.

Remember, the active physically unable to perform list is not like the regular season PUP list. All Leonhard needs to see the field again is for the team doctor's to clear him for practice. The regular season list requires a player to sit out the first six weeks of games and have a three-week evaluation period to determine if the player can get on the field or will be placed on season-ending injured reserve.

So, for now, Leonhard will wait to get on the practice field while still counting toward the team's 90-man camp roster.
