The Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals battle in Glendale on Thursday night in their respective preseason finales. Denver enters the game 1-2 and on a two-game losing streak while the Cardinals are 1-3 and looking to avoid a two-game losing streak.
Peyton Manning will sit this game out for the Broncos and allow Caleb Hanie and Brock Osweiler to decide who will be the backup quarterback. Hanie led the Broncos to a touchdown in the loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Osweiler has yet to do much this preseason.
With the majority, if not all, of the Broncos starters sitting for this game, it will be a good experience for the backups and those fighting for roster spots to impress the coaches. The last two games saw the Broncos' first teamers do well, but the backups on offense failed to score and the defense allowed the other teams to pile on the points for a victory.
The Cardinals don't have a starting quarterback yet, but neither Kevin Kolb nor John Skelton will be able to lock up the position in Thursday's game. Rather, Ryan Lindley will start the final preseason contest.
Game time/date: 9 p.m. MT, Thursday, Aug. 30
Location: University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Ariz.
