Early Sunday morning, Denver Broncos linebacker/defensive end Elvis Dumervil got some very unwanted publicity.
Dumervil was arrested in Miami, FL by police for an incident that is currently alleged aggravated assault with a firearm.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Dumervil's attorney Harvey Steinberg has stated the following:
"No charges have been filed. No aggravated assault or assault took place. And it is likely that once the full investigation is complete, no charges will be filed against Mr. Dumervil."
If that indeed turns out to be the case, Dumervil should be a very relieved man. Aggrevated assault with a firearm is nothing to sneeze at and often times can result in jail time, even with a plea bargain.
From a football standpoint, the Broncos have to be holding their breath as more facts continue to come out. Losing Dumervil would be a big loss, even for just a few games.
