The Denver Broncos have not only Peyton Manning as the quarterback of now, but also the quarterback of the future with Brock Osweiler. The team used the 57th overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft to select the Arizona St. Sun Devils junior man under center.
Osweiler became the object of many mock drafters on Friday, projecting the 6-foot-7 pass-thrower to the Broncos. He could have played college basketball, but he decided he'd much rather throw the pigskin around.
With the Broncos, Osweiler will be able to play a year or two behind Manning, learn, grow and then assume the mantle of starting quarterback. Or maybe Osweiler will need to be thrown into the fire if Manning's health ever comes into such concern that he can't play. But no one is looking forward to that potential future.
