2012 NFL Mock Draft: Mel Kiper Projects G Amini Silatolu, QB Brock Osweiler For Broncos In Round 2

Mel Kiper Jr. has released his Round 2 mock draft, and if things fall the way he has projected them, Denver Broncos fans might be up in arms with the first pick and possibly the second as well. With the No. 36 overall pick (acquired through trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), the Broncos draft Midwestern St. guard Amini Silatolu. Kiper writes that this isn't a need pick but one meant to help its offensive line become elite. Then at No. 57 overall, the Broncos grab Arizona St. Sun Devils quarterback Brock Osweiler to wait in the wings once Peyton Manning hangs up his cleats.

If the Broncos traded down twice to pick up a Division II guard to fill in an area that isn't a huge need that will likely upset a segment of the fans. The Broncos have Zane Beadles, who is a decent start, and Chris Kuper is one of the top guards in the league, albeit recovering from a broken leg and dislocated ankle. This wouldn't address the team's need at defensive tackle while Devon Still, Jerel Worthy and Kendall Reyes are all still available with that first pick.

The Osweiler pick certainly makes sense. He will be able to gain valuable learning experience from Peyton Manning and hopefully correct his shortcomings by the time he is ready to be the team's starter. But we know not everyone will be 100 percent behind this possible selection.
