2012 NFL Draft Results: San Diego Chargers Select Melvin Ingram At No. 18

The San Diego Chargers used the 18th overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft on South Carolina Gamecocks defensive end Melvin Ingram. He fell a bit, as many thought when the New York Jets were on the clock that Ingram would head to the Empire City. However, the Jets decided to go with North Carolina Tar Heels defensive end Quinton Coples.

Ingram, 6 feet 1 and 264 pounds, is a versatile player who can also play standing up and act as a linebacker. He could be one of the better edge rushers to come out of this draft.

Obviously, the Broncos will see Ingram twice this year. Will Orlando Franklin and Ryan Clady be up to the task to take on this rookie? Clady almost certainly is, but Franklin needs to take a step forward on his pass-blocking.
