Jim McElwain is in his first year as the Colorado St. Rams' head football coach after a successful stint with the Alabama Crimson Tide as the offensive coordinator for the last several years. His running back there, Trent Richardson, was just selected by the Cleveland Browns as the No. 3 overall pick. McElwain congratulated Richardson on Twitter right after the pick:
Congratulations to Trent Richardson on his selection by the Browns in the #NFLDraft. Great to see the hard work pay off!

Richardson should have no problems taking the starting position from Day 1 of camp in August -- though he should already be first on the depth chart.
McElwain won't have the talent of a Richardson with the Rams quite yet, but he is bringing parts of the Nick Saban system with him to Fort Collins. Maybe in a few years the Rams will have a highly-regarded draft pick like Richardson. We'll see when it all begins in the fall for McElwain and the Rams.
