2012 NFL Mock Draft: ESPN's Todd McShay Projects Boise St. RB Doug Martin For Broncos

The 2012 NFL Draft on Thursday night should make one college player the latest individual to join the Denver Broncos. Will that person be a defensive tackle, a receiver or maybe even a tight end? Nay, writes ESPN's Todd McShay in his latest mock draft. He foresees the Broncos going with Boise St. Broncos running back Doug Martin with the No. 25 overall pick.

This pick makes sense with the way the rest of the mock pans out before and after. Defensive tackles Dontari Poe, Fletcher Cox and Michael Brockers are all gone in the top 15 picks and Devon Still looks like a second-rounder in the final few days (which, you know, might mean nothing).

Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick is off the board two picks earlier and wide receiver Kendall Wright the pick before that one. The Broncos then are left with a choice of running back Martin or Stanford tight end Coby Fleener. Martin would be able to compete with Willis McGahee for half the snaps, maybe, and provide a complementary back if he can't do that to begin with in 2012. The Broncos already have Joel Dreessen and Jacob Tamme locked in at tight end.
