2012 NFL Draft Rumors: Broncos May Be Targeting Alabama CB Dre Kirkpatrick

With the No. 25 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos are looking to fill holes at defensive tackle, cornerback and along the offensive line, but they may have Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick at the top of their list. The talented cornerback came off the board at No. 20 to the Tennessee Titans in SB Nation's meta mock draft and in the same spot in Todd McShay's mock, but the CB is reportedly drawing the Broncos' interest.

Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post had this to say about the connection between the Broncos and Kirkpatrick as the draft approaches:

Kirkpatrick is on the Broncos' short list of possible selections with the 25th pick of the first round later this month. At 6-foot-1½ and 186 pounds, Kirkpatrick is the kind of big cornerback who routinely sees his stock rise on draft weekend.

...In recent weeks, he has defused at least some concerns that teams have about an arrest for marijuana possession earlier this year. He obtained a signed affidavit from the former Alabama player he was with when arrested that the marijuana wasn't Kirkpatrick's and that Kirkpatrick was unaware that marijuana had been purchased.

In other words, if he falls on draft day, don't expect him to get past the Broncos.
