The Denver Broncos hold the No. 25 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, and with needs at defensive tackle, cornerback and along the offensive line, there are plenty of directions they could go. It all depends on how the draft landscape develops when the picks become official, which is why Todd McShay's latest 2012 NFL Mock Draft breaks down multiple scenarios for Denver's late-round selection. He lists DT Michael Brockers of the LSU Tigers as the pick this time, but the whole mock draft is more about the process. Here is what McShay had to say:
Scenario 1: The Broncos have a glaring need in the middle of their defense, and Brockers is a great fit. He's big and powerful and has good tape, and his best football is still ahead of him.
Scenario 2: Jump on Kirkpatrick if he should fall down the board.
Scenario 3: If the defensive players they value are not available, the Broncos could look trade back and pick up extra selections. That could allow them the luxury of taking Peyton Manning's heir apparent (Brock Osweiler?) in the second round while also addressing a need at running back (Boise State's Doug Martin), corner (Jenkins) or defensive tackle (Washington's Alameda Ta'amu).
Boise St. fans might be excited to see Doug Martin linked to the Broncos, and if Kirkpatrick and Brockers get snatched up early on a trade and pick like that should become more likely, according to McShay.
