2012 NFL Mock Draft: Peter Konz Projected For Broncos By Mocking The Draft

The Denver Broncos have Peyton Manning to lead the offense, but will they now focus on defense in the draft or will they surround the quarterback with young, new talent? In Mocking the Draft's latest NFL mock draft, the Broncos are projected to take Wisconsin Badgers center Peter Konz with the No. 25 overall pick:

Lots of people have Denver going defense here, and I agree. That makes sense. However, if John Elway truly has no "Plan B" after he roped in Peyton Manning, then protecting Manning has to be the franchise's No. 1 priority. Elway failed to sign Jeff Saturday, Manning's former center in Indy. Thus, he goes with Konz.

Clearly, the Broncos aren't all that satisfied with the job J.D. Walton has done over the last two years, so an upgrade at center wouldn't be too much of a surprise. Yet, Penn St. Nittany Lions defensive tackle Devon Still goes two picks later to Bill Belichick's New England Patriots. The Broncos might be better off taking Still, allowing the team to build t he defensive line around him in the years to come.
