Peyton Manning Update: Broncos To 'Unretire' No. 18 For Manning

The Denver Post is reporting that QB Frank Tripucka will no longer be the only No. 18 quarterback in Denver Broncos history. Tripucka was the the team's very first starting quarterback, and after four seasons with the Broncos, Tripucka retired in 1963 and the team sent his No. 18 with him.

With the recent signing of Peyton Manning, however, the team and Manning have reached out to the old No. 18 to secure his blessing:

"It’s perfectly OK for him to go ahead and use it,’’ Frank Tripucka said last week from his New Jersey home. "I would be honored to have him wear it.’’

Manning reportedly spoke with Tripucka on Tuesday afternoon, and the incoming quarterback will indeed take the coveted number.
