Details of Peyton Manning's contract with the Denver Broncos are leaking, ending much of the speculation over how much money would be put at the front of the contract. According to Andrew Brandt, Manning will receive $58 million over the first three years of the deal:
Manning contract: 2012: 18M2013-2014: 40M w/waiver on neck2015: 19M2016: 19Mtrying to find out more on waiver— Andrew Brandt (@adbrandt) March 20, 2012
Also as expected, the contract includes safeguards for the Broncos should Manning's neck prevent him from playing. However, it appears that the waiver doesn't kick in until the second year of the deal.
The real question is whether Manning will even want to play five more seasons in the league. It might be a solid guess to say that Manning plays just three more seasons. Does he really want to linger on like Brett Favre and play until he is 40?
