The Denver Broncos are exploring several options for a backup quarterback in the 2012 season, with Billy Volek, Vince Young and David Garrard being among the players on their list, according to Bill Williamson's report.
While the Broncos are one of the handful of teams competing in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes this off-season, the AFC West as a whole is scrambling to reshape the cosmetics of the backup quarterback position.
The San Diego Chargers cut Volek on Saturday, just a day after signing Charlie Whitehurst to a deal to back up Philip Rivers. Brady Quinn signed with the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday to back up Matt Cassel.
With the absence of Quinn, the Broncos' reserve quarterback situation is just as unsure as their starting quarterback situation, as it is still unknown whether the guy will be Manning or Tim Tebow.
