Peyton Manning Update: John Elway Discusses Visit With Quarterback

New, 1 comment

An earlier version of this entry originally used a tweet from the Chronicle's sports Twitter account with the following report:

Elway, Fox, Manning and Co are leaving now. Manning did not throw a pass today. Odd development

However, the Denver Broncos' own John Elway tweeted just minutes later:

We enjoyed visiting with Peyton today in N.C. He threw the ball great and looked very comfortable out there. Watching him throw today was the next step in this important process for our team and Peyton. It was a productive visit and went well.

Obviously there was a breakdown in correctly sourcing the original report, and, as we've learned over the last week with everything concerning Peyton Manning, there's a lot of speculation going on around these day. That is included here on our part, as well.

The Chronicle is now trying to explain its reporting:

Elway just tweeted that he enjoyed watching Peyton throw today, but it's unclear when/for how long that happened, appeared they spent their time away from both the indoor/outdoor practice facilities, unless he threw briefly at the very beginning of the visit

In the end, we really don't know anything about what is going unless those directly involved talk and are on the record.
