2012 NFL Draft: Broncos Meet With Brandon Weeden

With so much attention on the Denver Broncos and their chase for Peyton Manning, it should be noted that Manning isn't the only QB on their radar. In fact, just a day before meeting with Manning in Denver, John Elway, John Fox and Brian Xanders were in Stillwater, Oklahoma for a meeting with former Oklahoma St. QB Brandon Weeden. According to Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post, the two sides had an extensive meeting, which included a video session and dinner:

A key figure in the day's activities was Cowboys quarterback Brandon Weeden. The Broncos' group took Weeden out to dinner Thursday night after having met with Weeden earlier Thursday to quiz him on football matters as well as to put him through a short private workout in the team's stadium.

The group also looked at video, with Weeden answering questions, from Oklahoma State's Fiesta Bowl win over Stanford — Elway's alma mater — this past January. In the game, Weeden completed 29-of-42 passes for 399 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-38 overtime win.

Despite an excellent senior season, in which he led Oklahoma St. to a BCS bowl, much of the attention on Weeden has been about his age. Weeden came to Oklahoma St. after playing minor league baseball, and will be 28 years old when the draft is held.
