2012 NFL Mock Draft: Mocking The Draft Says Denver Broncos Will Select CB Janoris Jenkins

Ryan Van Bibber gave the Denver Broncos an offensive player -- Miami running back Lamar Miller -- with the No. 25 overall pick in the latest SB Nation mock draft, but our draft-dedicated blog Mocking The Draft sees Denver targeting a defensive player. Mocking the Draft projects the Broncos will select cornerback Janoris Jenkins in the first round, a high-upside player out of North Alabama.

Jenkins can be as good as he wants to be. He has top 10 talent in a lot of scouts eyes, but has major character concerns. He was kicked off the Florida Gators after his second arrest, and that will provide red flags. Jenkins says he has matured since then, and the Broncos have Champ Bailey to mentor him. If they need it, they always have Tim Tebow to set him straight...

Adding a cornerback does make sense, as we saw throughout the season that the Broncos have no depth behind Bailey. Andre Goodman was mostly miss rather than hit while Jonathan Wilhite and rookie Chris Harris had to pick up some of the slack. Harris played well as the nickel back, but it remains to be seen whether he could be a starter at the NFL.

As for the selection of Jenkins, those arrests would set alarms off in my head, and I'm sure John Fox and John Elway will do their best to assess Jenkins' maturation process.
