NFL Mock Draft 2012: Todd McShay Projects QB Ryan Tannehill To Broncos

Two years ago, the Denver Broncos selected Tim Tebow in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. That was with the 25th overall pick. Will the Broncos take a quarterback for the second time in three years at pick No. 25? ESPN Insider Todd McShay believes that will be so, with the Broncos taking Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

McShay believes this is pretty much the only way the Broncos can create competition for Tim Tebow at quarterback since free agents won't want to enter the boiling water of the Tim Tebow situation (or whatever one wants to call it). McShay sees a quarterback who can run some of the option plays the team runs with team while also being a "legitimate prospect" to close the gap in case Tebow doesn't improve.

However, the Broncos do have needs at cornerback and defensive tackle to deal with this year. However, as we saw last year, the team won't force a need onto their draft board and will instead take the best player available no matter the position. And that certainly could mean a quarterback at No. 25.
