2012 NFL Mock Draft: SB Nation Projects DT Jerel Worthy For Broncos

The NFL Combine is just a day away from starting, which means mock drafts will start to take into account what happens there. In his pre-Combine NFL mock draft, SB Nation's Ryan Van Bibber continues to project Michigan St. Spartans defensive tackle Jerel Worthy to the Denver Broncos.

Van Bibber writes:

Denver needs some speed to help Tim Tebow, but speed can be found later in the draft. Beefing up the defense will pay dividends for the Broncos. Worthy strengthens their defensive line and gives them a player capable of creating pressure up front.

While it is all well and good to keep projecting the defensive tackle to the Broncos -- the position is the top area of concern for the defense -- the team might not have a defensive tackle as the No. 1 player on its board by the time the No. 25 pick is on the clock.

As we saw in 2011, defensive tackle was also the No. 1 area of need for the Broncos, many football talking heads proclaimed, but the team went with a linebacker at No. 2 overall. John Elway and John Fox stick to their board and we shouldn't doubt that in 2012. If a defensive tackle is No. 1 on the board come the 25th pick that player will certainly be a Broncos draft choice.
