NFL Mock Draft 2012: Alabama's Mark Barron Could Ease For Denver Broncos Potential Loss Of Brian Dawkins

The Denver Broncos will pick no worse than No. 21 in the 2012 NFL Draft should they lose on Saturday to the Pittsburgh Steelers in an AFC Wild Card game. It's all but assured that the Broncos will draft a player other than a quarterback in the first round. Defensive tackle is an area that the team could upgrade at, or even running back would be a good place to look. But how about at safety?

Over at NewNFLDraft.com, the team there has the Broncos taking Alabama safety Mark Barron with the No. 21 overall pick. Barron plays strong safety, a position the Broncos will have an opening at sooner rather than later. Brian Dawkins, even if he is able to come back from a neck injury, will be 39 in October and can't play forever. Barron could step in and eventually become the kind of safety Dawkins was: a hard-hitter and a team leader.
