Over at ESPN, Nik Bonaddio and Keith Goldner (Insider only) broke down the top five overachieving teams of the 2011. The Denver Broncos were the No. 1 overachieving team this past season. According to the numbers, the Broncos were expected to have 5.34 and beat that by 2.66 wins, finishing the actual season with an 8-8 record. What helped that along?
↵The defense was able to prevent 40 points fewer than a league-average defense would have don in this season. However, the offense scored nine points per game fewer than a league-average offense would have done.
↵While the authors don't want to rule out another playoff run for the Broncos, they do believe it depends on how well Tim Tebow progresses in his second year as the starter.
