NFL Cuts 2011: Broncos Will Need Help At Cornerback

With Syd'Quan Thompson out for the season, the Denver Broncos are likely to go shopping for a cornerback on the waiver wire once teams start cutting their rosters down to the 53-man limit. But who else is expected to make the team as a cornerback?

Mile High Report runs down the position and leaves aside the obvious players, starters Champ Bailey and Andre Goodman. It appears to have been written before news of Thompson's season-ending injury broke. It is more than likely that Perrish Cox will make the 53-man roster, even with his lackluster play during the preseason. Undrafted rookie free agent cornerback Brandon Bing does look like a practice squad player, which shouldn't be a surprise.

But it seems to be a good bet that the Broncos will scour the waiver wire to find additional help at cornerback. Just because Cox looks like he will make the team doesn't ensure him much playing time. If the Broncos do find someone on the wire, it is still possible Cox could be cut to make room. But we'll need to wait until Saturday to find any of that out.
