The Denver Broncos and the Oakland Raiders finished off Week 1 of the NFL season with Monday's second football game. We'll need to wait for the Patriots and the Dolphins to finish things in Miami before the second half of the doubleheader starts.
Both games will feature the coaching debuts of John Fox, as the Broncos' head coach, and Hue Jackson, as the Raiders' coach and his first as a head coach, in general. Fox comes from the Carolina Panthers, where he led the Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance in 2004. But Fox's Panthers slipped to 2-14 in 2010 and his contract was not renewed. The Broncos, under the guidance of John Elway, turned to Fox to bring the Broncos back from the quagmire that was Josh McDaniels' reign as head coach.
Jackson was Oakland's offensive coordinator for Tom Cable in 2010 and move up to head coach in Jan. 2011 when Cable's contract was not renewed. He will lead a Raiders team back to Denver, where they humiliated the Broncos in 2011. The Raiders won that game, 59-14.
