Broncos TE Richard Quinn Designated Waived/Injured

The Denver Broncos have designated Richard Quinn as waived/injured. He will head to the IR once he clears waivers.

The Denver Broncos have plenty of depth at tight end even though Richard Quinn has been waived/injured by the team on Monday afternoon. He will move to injured reserve should no team pluck him off waivers. Quinn injured his MCL last week during practice and missed the first two preseason games.

Quinn has been a disappointment since he was drafted in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Then head coach Josh McDaniels traded two third-round picks to move back into the second round for the North Carolina tight end.

Quinn played in 15 games his rookie year but had no receptions. It was much the same in 2010 for Quinn before he caught his first NFL pass in a December game against the Oakland Raiders. He and Tim Tebow connected on a nine-yard reception.

Quinn was displaced as the starting tight end with the addition of Daniel Fells. Rookie Julius Thomas is making Quinn, a player better known for his blocking, irrelevant. Dan Gronkowski and Virgil Green are also in the mix at tight end, though Green, a rookie, looks as though he will be a practice squad player.
