Former Denver Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe is a Pro Football Hall of Famer and, well before that, a fantasy hall of fame tight end. But it's been years since Sharpe was a Bronco, and the position has been a bit bare over the last couple of seasons. Daniel Graham, Richard Quinn and Dan Gronkowski have failed to do much catching the ball.
But fantasy owners might want to look at the Broncos' Daniel Fells as one of their tight ends this season. As Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post writes, John Fox's offense utilizes two tight end sets frequently and a tight end is usually near the top of leading receivers on Fox's teams. The tight end appears to be back in vogue in Denver.
Fells doesn't even rank on SB Nation's/Fake Teams' tight end rankings, but rookie Julius Thomas does at No. 34. Thomas was one of two tight ends the Broncos drafted, but Virgil Green appears headed to the practice squad. Thomas is inexperienced at football, having come from more of a basketball background with Portland State.
Fells is a tight end to grab in the middle- to late-rounds, but Thomas can be had off the waiver wire at this point.
