Bill Belichick made some standout moves earlier in the week when he acquired wide receiver Chad Ochocinco and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. Maybe he thinks that he can change them and have them be quiet citizens at Gillette Stadium. Stranger things could happen, I guess.
↵But if Patriots had not made the move to pick up Haynesworth, what would the Washington Redskins have done with the troubled lineman? According to Michael Lombardi (via Bill Williamson), Redskins coach Mike Shanahan was ready to ship the defensive tackle off to his old team, the Broncos. I'm guessing the Broncos would have sent the 'Skins a fifth-round choice, just as the Patriots did.
↵While Haynesworth has a ton of talent, he would be too much of a headache to a team that already has questions over who is the starting quarterback--something that could be a revolving door issue this season. Oh, and Haynesworth isn't even ready to practice yet. Bill Belichick can deal with all of that.
